Myles Hannaman may have grown up in a town without a stop light but it hasn't prevented him from launching a successful career as a model which he combines for the moment with his college studies. In high school Myles was an all round athlete with a special love for wrestling, with various titles to his credit, including three times a state champion.
At college, encouraged by friends, Myles entered the Musclemania Superbody competition in Florida, was discovered, and the rest is history.
Here is more of his story:
Michael: Share some of your background with us Myles.
Myles: I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in a little town known as Pride, Louisiana about thirty minutes away. To give you a little more information on Pride, it doesn't even have a stop light, just stop signs. I went to Catholic schools my whole life and was always athletic and very competitive.
I attended high school at Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, where I played baseball, football, weightlifting, track, and the sport I love, wrestling. Wrestling was the only sport I participated in all four years of high school. I was a three time state champion, two time city champion, all-metro, all-state, caption, and most valuable wrestler. I set many school records at Redemptorist and intended to wrestler in college, but due to a knee surgery I sat out a year for recuperation.
I went to Southeastern Louisiana University and started working out hard in their facility. A couple of bodybuilders saw me and told me I should compete in all natural bodybuilding competitions.
I took their advice and went to Miami, Florida for Musclemania's Superbody competition. It was here I was picked up by Norman, Dick, and Mike (Norman Johansen and Dick Rossan are photographers and Mike Downs is a photographer and principal of All American Guys), to be an All American Guy Model.
Michael: And your career as a model started?
Myles: Before, I would never think of becoming a model, but when I thought about the opportunity of getting my name and face out there, I decided what the hell, I will not be in this good of shape my whole life and it will be something to look back on. The money wasn't bad either. haha.
Michael: Share some of your experiences as a model.
Myles: Some experiences I had as a model so far have been: modeling with a beautiful girl, running on a beach with just a speedo, working out in just a speedo, wrestling a stuffed animal, going to a huge model party in Florida, and making new friends and fans.
Michael: What are your goals now?
Myles: My personal and professional goals are to stay lean and take care of my body, graduate from college first and then move to Florida or California to pursue a modeling or acting career. If that doesn't work out, then I still hopefully have a nursing degree to fall back on.
Michael: Who are the great influences in your life?
Myles: My parents both influence me because they back up everyone of my decisions and support me in whatever I do. My competitive side inspires me. When I look at other models, I ask myself what do I have to do to become better then them. I want to be the best in whatever I do, so I work hard for it.
Michael: What do you enjoy in your free time?
Myles: Some things I like doing on my free time are, going out to eat, playing games with my family, poker with my friends, pick up game of football, watch movies, and just take a minute and relax.
Michael: Share some of the great moments in your life.
Myles: I have many great moments in my life and it would be hard to narrow it down to just one. I say every time I achieve a goal I set, such as winning State in wrestling, winning a bodybuilding comp., getting paid for modeling, etc.., these would the greatest moments in my life. I like to spend a relaxing evening, by first going out to eat, then see a movie, have some desert and go to sleep.
