SOME OF MY HISTORY
Hi, My name is Max Philisaire. Born in Haiti, moved to south Florida when I was eight with my family. I Joined the military in 2000, deployed to Kosovo and Iraq in 2003. Got out of the service in 2004, enrolled in college. Enrolled at University for Pharmacy but later changed my major to business.
I enjoy traveling, meeting people from all over the world. I love working out and playing basketball. I want to expend my possibilities in modeling as far as it will take me. I'm interested in all types of modeling but i fit more the commercial and print for fitness and sport.
SOME VIEWS ON MODELING
I think it might be harder in most markets for black male models to find work because marketing is geared towards the people that purchase the merchandise the most. A lot of black Black males don't wear the majority of the European fashion. But that's been changing and it will continue to change as black men try out different trends and begin to get the feel of them. I believe we'll see a wider range of models when a wider range of people get more into European fashion.
Yes, I think it is very hard to find an interesting proposal. There is less room for male models and there are a lot of us out there. It is like sales, you have to find out what the markert demands and give it to them but at a 200%. I would like to work with anyone that can bring out the best of me. I'm new to this industry and I'm not sure what will fit me best. I think to be successful I must be open to different fashion and modeling.
It's all fun to me, I love fashion and photos so I would be satisfied with any work as long as it is creative.
SUCCEEDING AS A MODEL
In my opinion, for a men or women to succeed in the modeling field you must be persistent. Things might not workout the way you planned the first try but you must understand that clients and agencies need different looks at different time.
You might not be picked for a specific project but you may be perfect for another. You must be patient and wait your turn. You must be at the right place at the right time. The trick is to find out where that right place is for you and get yourself there. You might have to cut your hair, lose or gain weight for certain projects. That means you'll have to put work before your own personal image prefrence.
MY LOVE OF SPORTS
I'm very much into sport. I'm very energenic, always been and always will be unless I get physically injured in the future. I love being active. Us humans are made to be active. It keeps you alive. Keeps my stress level down.
Its' a very positive way to pass time. I've always been pretty slim. At the age of 18 I decide to put on some muscle weight. I loved the results so much, that i trained harder and harder over time.
I achieved most of my goals by staying on a strict lean protein and carbohydrate diet. Plenty of water and rest. I work out using strict form. Quality over quantity. Motivation and will also helps a lot when it comes to working out.
ON FAMILY AND FRIENDSHIP
The world today is composed of business partners. People are more into their career than family and friends. Friends and family are the business partners. Some where along the line, business surpassed the importance of family in this society. Without the foundation of good family values, the future of this society is at great risk.
Quantity seems to be more important than quality in this society. I try to help society by being an individual and not falling victim of greed for money and material goods.
CHECKING OUT THE BEACH SCENE
If I was to show some of my foreign friends around, I would take them to the spots that I and most people my age enjoy. During the day we would definitely check out the beach scene. South Beach or Fortlauderdale.
The cheese cake factory is a nice cozy restaurant to eat have a meal. Later that night I we would go to either downtown Ft. Lauderdale or South Beach Miami. If they prefer clubs, South Beach or downtown Miami would definitely be the spot. For bars, they would like Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
You have a lot to choose from in south Florida. You can take 2 night cruises to the Islands, travel to the hottest beachesnorth and west Florida. There is something for everyone. A Heat basketball at the American Arena would be an experience to remember. I would also take them to a Dolphin football game.
WHY ME FOR A CAMPAIGN!!!
I would be a good option for the new campaigns because I don't look like the typical model, you can catch the attention of a bigger audience with a different look. I'm not a skinny pretty boy but I keep myself in very good shape and my images tell a story.
You be the judge, Take a look at some of my images and tell me if you agree with me. I don't anyone can bring something to this career if you use your imagination. I'm very creative, open minded and I can help bring out new ideas from older ones. I'm bigger than the typical model but my size isn't too noticable when fully dressed. I can flip to fitness or fashion but simply putting on or taking off my shirt.
MAKE YOUR CAREER WORK FOR YOU
To all the aspiring models and connex readers around the world, make this career work for you. Don't let turn downs bring you down, use them to motivate you and go harder to achieve your goals. You must know what your goals are first of course. Don't let anyone, especially not yourself get between your goals. Try to make the journey as enjoyable as possible and strive for happiness and success.
AND IN 2008!!!
For the year 2008 I plan to work with the most talented photographers, managers, producers and designers. Ones that are looking for new looks and ideas instead of the old fashion photography. Look out for me in the new Trina music video. I plan to travel Look out for New York, L.A and Georgia for filmsand fashion campaigns.
