Edward: Your 2xist underwear boxes are out in the stores. Tell us about it.
Joey: I am proud to say that I have done many new lines for 2xist and the newest boxes should be in stores around Thanksgiving time, and definitely before Christmas and the holiday season. I never pictured myself as being an underwear model, but ever since I landed that first underwear job, I have been on a roll with booking more and more boxes and packaging. These will be all over the US and I think some other countries as well not sure. You can check out http://www.2xist.com for further information.
Edward: What do you think about having fans from different parts of the world with such unique life styles, cultures and so on? How do you rate importance about it?
Joey: I love having fans from all over the world and I would have to say my fans are not just one type of person. They are unique, and that is what I like about them.
Edward: We currently live in a body-conscious society where people have a strong desire to be in good shape. How important is physical appearance toward a successful career? What other attributes make a successful person?
Joey: I know that for my career (fitness modeling), I must always be in my best shape. I try to maintain my body year round so I can always be ready if there is an audition/casting and they are looking for someone in shape. I know a lot of guys tend to bulk up in the winter, and cut up in the spring/summer, but I try to always stay lean, which I say is very hard, but I am used to it already. This gives me that edge over the competition.
Edward: Female models seem to endure great pressure concerning their bodies. Some have even died of disorders like anorexia. What do you think about it? How often does this problem occur in male fashion?
Joey: I know that a lot of guys who are so into their bodies (whether it´s fashion or fitness modeling) develop this "disease" called muscle dysmorphia, which is where they feel that they are very small or weak, when they are not at all. I won't lie, I sometimes feel like I am not that ripped as I want to be and other people tell me I am crazy, but I don't see it sometimes.
Edward: You were featured again in Men´s Health edition for the second time. Congratssssss! Tell us how was the process of shooting for this magazine? Was it a really competitive casting? Why do you think they chose you?
Joey: I have been featured in Men's Health a few times since I received these questions, and basically I booked those jobs from going on a casting that they held. I would go in between a certain time, and see tons of others guys in there as well. They all were in top shape, looked good, and definitely were competition. I always try to stand out in a casting and I am very friendly, I smile and show my personality a lot, because if everyone is in good shape, you need to stand out above them one way or another. That is part of the reason why i think they chose me, plus having worked for them before, I am very easy to work with. I also don't complain and I do the task at hand and they can count on me to get the job done.
Edward: Just imagine a situation: You are anonymous in a crowd. Nobody notices you. Then all of a sudden, a fan approaches you and reveals to others that you are a model from a popular fashion campaign. The excitement takes over and the crowd gets wild. How would you handle it?
Joey: I actually had this happen to me once and it was funny. My cover was out at the time (I think it was my Men's Fitness cover) and I was in a magazine store in Penn Station. I see this guy looking at me funny and he said something to his girlfriend. Then they walked up to me and asked me if that was me on the cover because it looked exactly like me. I told them that it was me and they were just like saying how cool it was and how did I get picked for the cover. I kept my cool and just told them how I went on a casting and booked the job..etc.
Edward: Another situation: you are with a foreign friends and you´d really like to show them some real nice and fantastic places in your city. So, which places you´d recommend and why?
Joey: I would definitely take them to some of the hottest lounges in New York City. There are places like Cain and Marquee where you can spot celebrities and good looking people just having a great time, drinking, and dancing as well.
Edward: Joey, what are your future plans?
Joey: What are my future plans from now on? I would have to say that I am still going to stick with the fitness modeling as well as training through mypersonal training site: http://www.absbyjoey.com. I am actually going to start working with my father soon, and may have to put aside the modeling/training in a few months. We will see what happens.
