When supermodel Bruno Santos let us know about a very special movie on AIDS and fundraising campaign associated with it, we immediately contacted him for more information and decided that Connex247 would support Bruno's efforts to bring attention to both projects.
Bruno advised that filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald wrote him to spread the word about a very special film and charity about the movie '3 Needles'.
Wolfe Releasing has put up an http://myspace.com/3Needles page and for every friend added before midnight on World AIDs Day, which is December 1, it will donate 10¢ to a charity doing AIDS prevention in West Africa.
We were able to contact Thom Fitzgerald who said: "Wow, Mike, that's great. Interesting about Bruno-- I was in Brazil a month ago at the Rio Film Fest, and the people were especially interested in the subject, having been so hard hit as a nation by AIDS, and having faced it head on. Thanks to you both."
Bruno also told us that '3 Needles' comes out in the USA on December 1st. It stars Lucy Liu, Chloe Sevigny, Shawn Ashmore, Stockard Channing, Olympia Dukakis, Sandra Oh and Sook-Yin Lee. It tells short stories from Africa, China and Canada-- all touching upon the AIDS pandemic.
There are also benefit screenings scheduled for December 1st to raise funds for GayMen's Health Crisis, New York AIDS Project, Boston Living Center, Los Angeles AIDS, Care Resource and several other U.S. charities.
This movie was shot by Bruno's long-time friend Tom Harting and he tells us that his work "surpassed anything youve seen before the movie is a masterpiece about how the HIV/AIDs virus mutates over time and place and like the virus it shows how people affected or in contact with it also mutate. Simply amazing story and must-see!"
