MOVING ON

Angelo:  I grew up in the west coast of Canada and was raised by  Greek parents.  Grew up in a really small town. A small place where everyone knows your business. Couldn’t wait to move on to bigger and better things……

GETTING STARTED

I was walking through a shopping mall when a woman approached me and let me know about a model search that was going to happen. One of those really small town shopping mall model searches, I ended up having some shots taken by a local photographer, and submitted them.

AngeloI was chosen and won. I won a trip to Toronto, Ontario to go to CMTC (Canadian Model and Talent Convention). Surprisingly did well, winning 5 out of 6 of my categories. I Met agents from all over the world.

I left Toronto and nothing came of any of it. My agent at the time was more concerned with collecting money from me for nothing. Telling me that if she wanted me to call the international agencies there would be a charge. There was a charge for everything that she would do….so I ended up moved on from her.

I went to Calgary, Alberta to visit a friend, then decided to go to one of the best agencies in Canada, Mode Models International for an open call. I met Kelly Streit, the President of the agency, and he signed me. So I moved to Calgary to work locally there shooting local jobs and to wait and see if there would be any bites with any of the agencies abroad.

AngeloI worked well in Calgary, shooting local ads for some malls, some ads for local designers and doing a few shows as well.

WORKING IN MILAN

About 6 months later an agency in Milan wanted me to come over and test with photographers and hopefully book some jobs. So I went, scared shitless at 19 years old. I was already living on my own at the time, but to live in another country for the first time excited me, but at the same time I didn’t know what to expect? I went and shot with some amazing photographers trying to build my book up so I could have some great photos in there and wow some clients.  It was really great working with the photographers cause they made me feel really comfortable and were very directing and guiding. I Didn’t really work a lot my first trip, but built a pretty good test book.

A KICK ASS PLACE TO PARTY

After Milan, I went back to Canada, sat tight for a month or so, then headed to Hong Kong. Hong Kong was a great country to work in! It was so much fun. Booked a lot of great jobs, like jean campaigns, hotel ads, lots of catalogues and did some great shows like Giordano, Mexx, Tommy Hilfiger. I was there for Hong Kong Fashion week.

Angelo

It's funny, cause all of the shows for fashion week take place in their huge shopping centers. You look up and there are 5 floors packed with people. It was a rush and super insane. Hong Kong is also a kick ass place to party…Met so many great people and had the time of my life. Worked in Athens after for the summer. Shot some great editorials there.

BEING TREATED LIKE GOLD

AngeloI most definitely think I have achieved what I wanted to achieve with this business. I have the opportunity to travel around the world, work with amazing models, Photographers, stylists and  have the time of my life. I would love to be able to work with every major photographer in the business and shoot every major campaign All of the agencies that I have worked for have treated me like gold. I have been very lucky. I couldn’t ask for anything more……

LOOKING AMAZING!

Fashion is not really the most important thing to me….im very simple…..but it´s fun to work jobs where they make you look amazing and different. I love the modeling world. It’s a very tough business though. Lots of rejection. You have to be able to handle it. For every job I have booked, I have lost 10.

THE KEY TO SUCCESS

AngeloKey to success, keep it real with people and clients, don’t try to be someone you are not. Upsides: Meeting talented people in the industry, traveling and experiencing new cultures. Downsides: Attitude….its so unnecessary!! Also, finding out your schedule a day before….it’s really all very up in the air. Things can change in a minute.

DESIGNERS WITH VINTAGE

I'm a pretty simple guy. I like to mix designers with vintage. Im easily styled, Jeans, high tops and a t shirt or tank. Always!

WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT

Passion, Happiness, Love, Sex, Family
