SURFING AND SKATING
My family moved around a lot when I was growing up so I dont exactly have a hometown but I never looked at that as a negative. I was able to see so many places and experience so many different things that really shaped me as a person.
But for now, I call Southern California home. I love to surf and skatepretty much anything with a board has my vote. I come from Swedish and Irish ancestry. For some reason, I got all the Nordic genes while most of my family looks pretty irish.
ALMOST DETAINED
I was always told I should model growing up but what I mostly fell in love with is the creative aspect of the business. Each job is like creating a piece of art and every time I shoot, I try to bring more than just a face and a body to the shoot. In my first test with Ford, we ended up trying to shoot in the restricted area of the Port of Los Angeles and almost got hauled away by port authority on suspicion of terrorism. They detained us for an hour while they ran our records.
A SPANKING
After looking for more locations, we ended up at a Laundromat where I thought it would be a fun shot to take off my clothes and load them into a washer. People were walking in and out and staring at what we were doing and then this lady came over and spanked my ass. It was hilarious!
WORKING WITH CHARITIES
My parents have been a huge inspiration to me. My Dad has so much integrity and has shown me how to be a man with purpose. My Mom is very active with children who have special needs, which is something I am passionate about also. Especially working with childrens charities.
As for agencies, I feel very lucky to be with Ford Modelsit definitely opens a lot of doors. For designers Ive always wanted to work for John Galliano. His runway shows are stunning and he is a talented designer. I also love what D&G does with their campaigns and would be stoked to work for them.
BEAUTY IN SIMPLICITY
I love that the best photographers have a unique vision and can see beauty in simplicity. It really takes a lot of talent to inspire people through photography and I admire the amazingly talented photographers Ive worked with. As for preparation I guess I look at it as more of getting into a character rather than just posing for a picture. I try to really feel what I should be feeling in the scene I am placed in. I also research their other work so I can compliment their style and vibe.
AIRBRUSHING AFTER FIGHT
The day after I booked a really big job, I got in a fight and totally ended up with a black eye. I didnt have to shoot for a week so I was hoping it would just go away but the day before the shoot, my face still looked pretty bruised. My agent called the client and got them all worked up saying my face looked horrible so I had to drive all the way down to their office and have the photographer and clients inspect me.
They were kind of pissed but luckily they really wanted me for the job so they airbrushed my face with make-up and said they would just send the shoot to be retouched. During the shoot, every crewmember was cracking jokes about my face and telling me to be careful not to run into anything while I was off camera.
LIKE SHOOTING CARDBOARD!
Personality. Looks arent enough. I was on a shoot recently, and the photographer told me that shooting models with no personality is like shooting cardboard. Im the model that will do pretty much anything for the shot. I can definitely come off as a loose cannon sometimes, but usually the photographers thank me for a memorable shoot by the end of the day. The only downside is all the bad food I cant eat the day before a shoot. I love French Fries
so its hard.
MOST UNFASHIONABLE DUDE
I am probably the most unfashionable dude out there. Im usually in boardies and skate shoes. My ex-girlfriend said she didnt even like going out to dinner with me because everything I had was ripped and looked dirty.
My parents are always telling me to pull up my pants and not wear shirts with sexual innuendo on them. My Dad gets really bent out of shape every time I wear the one that says Ive got a rocket in my pocket! I pretty much wear it on purpose now just to get a laugh.
PRETTY WILD FOR SHOOT
Im not too good with the whole being in the spotlight thing. I can definitely get pretty wild for a shoot, but in real life Im kind of a shy guy and to be honest, I dont know how Ive gotten this far.
I have really close family and friends that I love to death. Theyve been a strong support for me and theres nothing I wouldnt do for them. Im always flattered when fans tell me they like my work. Its nice to hear positive feedback.
THE NEXT WAVE
I love football, soccer, volleyballpretty much anything with a ball. I love working out and running. I also love to travel especially to tropical areas with big waves. But most of all, I love to surf. Theres just something about being in the water that makes everything else disappear. All you can really think about is your next wave and the ocean around you. Kind of makes you realize how small we all are.
IMPORTANT!
Im going to get married and have kids in the future. Im also going to travel to every continent and climb K2. I want to stand for positive change in the world and acceptance and tolerance. We are all the same no matter how different we seem, and when one of us loseswe all lose.
SWIMSUIT IN HAUTE COUTURE
I have 8 pages and the cover in this months issue of Pix Magazine, a summer swimsuit spread coming out in the June issue of Haute Couture, An interview and editorial spread in Dorian Magazine from Sweden, and a few campaigns on the web coming out soon. And definitely look for me on the runway at Fashion week in October.
BIG MOMENT
An unforgetable moment: crossing the finish line at the Honolulu Marathon 3 years ago. In the rain! Was one of the greatest days of my life.
